George R. Barker, 90

George R. “Georgie” Barker, 90, of Marblehead, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of the late Bridget (Cromie) Barker for 45 years.
Born in Laconia, N.H. Georgie was the son of the late George N. and Helen G. (Bean) Barker. George and his family moved to Marblehead when he was 6 years old. He was a graduate of Marblehead High School class of 1955 and later joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Returning home, George worked for over fifty years with the Town of Marblehead Water Department and Electric Department. He liked collecting post cards and stamps and enjoyed his time watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Georgie is survived by his daughter, E. Andrea Barker of Marblehead, a sister, Joyce Furey of Salem,his God-daughter Julie MacArthur of Peabody, several nieces and nephews, and his best friend Albert Jordan of Marblehead. Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his sister, Patricia E. (Barker) Billings.
Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service with military honors in the Waterside Cemetery, West Shore Dr. Marblehead, on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
