William “Billy” Karolides, 88
December 18, 1935 – April 3, 2024
Billy Karolides passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 3, 2024. He was the adored son of Thomas and Sophie Karolides of Peabody. He was the devoted father of Thomas Karolides and his wife Ana of Peabody and Susan Ryan and her husband Michael of Dracut. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra (Mozer) Karolides, his cherished daughter Cindy Karolides Smith of Colorado, His older Brother Paul Karolides of Florida and his adored sister Mary (Karolides) Maguire of Peabody. He was a loving Papa to his granddaughters Danielle Reid and Heather Blitch of Colorado and his beloved grandson, Declan Ryan of Dracut. Billy was blessed to have two great-grandchildren, JR and Maizey Reid of Colorado many much loved nieces and nephews.
Billy was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired member of the Local 4 Union of Operating Engineers and a retired worker of the City of Peabody, Department of Public Works.
Billy was renowned for his sense of humor, he was never at a loss for the perfect joke for the moment and he had an unending repertoire! Billy was always the life of the party, and loved dancing! He would be the first one calling others to the dance floor and the last one to leave! He was a fan of the Boston Bruins and in his later years enjoyed the horse races. For many years he made an annual trip to Saratoga Springs with a group of his favorite friends. He will always be remembered for his generosity, love and the laughter he brought to others.
Billy Karolides's family will gather to celebrate his life on April 13, 2024 at the Holy Ghost Society, 20 Howley St. Peabody, MA from 11:30-2:30. Family and friends are invited to stop by and share their favorite memories of Billy and to share a farewell toast to his well lived life and the laughter this remarkable man left along his way.
