Margaret A. "Peggy" Quimby, 77

November 15, 1945 – March 11, 2023

Middleton- Margaret A. "Peggy" (Harrington) Quimby, of Middleton, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the company of her loving family. She was the wife of Frank Quimby of Middleton.

Born in Salem, MA, Peggy was the daughter of the late Edward and Nathalie (Leveille) Harrington. She loved decorating, crafts, knitting, and attending her grandchildren's plays, concerts and sporting events. She brought friends and family together by hosting parties on joyful holiday occasions. Peggy was creative, and her outlets included cake decorating, ceramic painting, macramé braiding, knitting and crocheting, and decorating her home for seasons and holidays. At the urging of her grandkids, she entered a knitted blanket in the Topsfield Fair and won 1st place in her category.

Professionally, she worked many years at the Media Center at Salem State College and then opened a graphic design business with Frank. In 1980 she was recognized by the Women’s Enterprises of Boston for her outstanding performance as a pioneer in a nontraditional occupation for women, in graphic design.

Peggy had a competitive side and enjoyed her casino trips with life-long friend Donna Tosches. She loved games of any kind and would find way to turn simple events into a game or competition. She was a host by nature and threw big parties for the Fourth of July, the Super Bowl (if the Pats were in it), the Middleton Halloween hayrides, and Christmas gatherings where her grandchildren could count on a visit from Santa Al Malette. She frequently opened her home to friends, family, and neighbors.

Peggy was a devoted Nana who could frequently be found cheering on her grandkids at soccer fields, karate dojos, concerts, and dance competitions. Catholic faith was an important part of her life, and she passed her religious traditions on to her kids and grandchildren. In her final days, when her memory was failing, she was able to nevertheless find comfort in saying her daily prayers.

Along with her husband, Frank Quimby of Middleton, Peggy is survived by her children, Scott L'Italien and his wife Julie of Peabody, Deborah Tetrault and her husband Paul of Beverly, Karen Herrick and her husband Robert of Rowley, Lisa MacRae and her husband Bruce of Danvers; her grandchildren, Andrew L’Italien, Katie L’Italien, Jacqueline Tetrault, Danielle Tetrault, Nicolette Tetrault, Paul Tetrault Jr., Frank Herrick, Jessica Tomlinson, Ethan MacRae, and Collin MacRae; her siblings, Michael Harrington and his wife Judy of Lynn, and Brian Harrington and his wife Andrea of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her sister, Maryellen Harrington and her brother Edward Harrington.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. and to also meet directly at St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St. Middleton, MA on Friday for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice, B-102 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Carmelite Sisters of Danvers, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd. Danvers, MA 01923.
