Born January 20, 1943, Douglas E. Currier has taken off his captain’s hat, laid down his tools, and entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2023 surrounded by the loving support of his family.

The son of the late Velma Corrigan and Albert Currier of New York, Doug was survived by his loyal wife of 40 years, Paula (Harris) Currier, of Peabody MA, his devoted daughter Niki Currier of Salem, MA and step-daughter Kelly (Spiliotis) Kyriakopoulos and her husband Alex. Doug is also survived by his two very loving sisters Marion “Bunny” Delaney and Sheryl (Currier) Evans, both of New York, as well as two children James Currier and Donna Currier and their children, all of Massachusetts. Doug was predeceased by his sons Douglas Currier, Jr, and Paul Currier, both of Peabody, and sister Helen Parini also of Peabody. Douglas had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and even had a hand in raising two of his very special grandchildren, Nicola Iocco, and Gabrielle Currier.

Doug was the long-time dive captain of the Donna III, his prized kelly green Hatteras, as well as being known throughout New England for his legacy and self-employed diesel boat mechanic business “Russ Marine Service.” He was a proud life member of the Palmer’s Cove Yacht Club for decades. When not navigating the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Doug enjoyed cruising in his Cadillacs, watching New England sports teams, enjoying all types of cuisine, cherishing time with his family and laughing with his numerous friends from all around the globe.

Doug will be forever missed in the hearts of the many lives he has touched throughout his years.

His visiting hours will be December 9, 2023 from 11am to 1:30pm at the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St, Salem, Ma. A memorial service led by Pastor Larry Schell will be held immediately following the visitation in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.
