Normand A. Berube, 79

Normand A. Berube, 79, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in NSMC Salem Hospital. He was the loving husband of Donna M. Berube.
Born in Salem, MA, Normand was the son of the late Adrien and Jeanne (Labonte) Berube. Normand lived in Salem most of his life. He graduated from Salem High School in the class of 1960. After his schooling, Normand served in the Massachusetts National Guard as a Fire Control Specialist on numerous Howitzer Artillery. He worked for Northeast Petroleum for 34 years. After retiring from Northeast, Normand worked for 20+ years at D&S / Napa Auto Parts in Salem. Normand raised his family with his wife in their hometown of Salem. His house was always open for family to come and have a fun time with one another, especially around the holidays. Christmas was Normand’s favorite holiday, where he took pride in setting up his Christmas village each year with his family. Normand could always be found making home improvements and helping his wife maintain her beautiful garden. In his younger years, he enjoyed bringing his family out on his boat and going on summer vacations in Lake George, New York. Normand was a devoted Pépère (grandfather) and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He loved going to their sports games, band concerts, and was so proud of their accomplishments. Normand was incredibly generous, dependable, and would never hesitate to help anyone in need. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on puzzles and going out for breakfast with his wife, floating in his pool, watching Patriots football games, and weekly visits to the Salem Willows. Normand was an active member at Ste. Anne’s Church in Salem. You could always count on his sense of humor, that gave everyone a laugh and put a smile on their faces. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, Pépère, brother and friend by all who knew him.
Surviving Normand along with his wife of 56 years, Donna M. (Hughes) Berube of Salem are their children, Jacqueline (Berube) Kempton and longtime partner Brian Pepsak of Wareham MA, James Berube and his late wife Stephanie of Chandler AZ, Jonathan Berube and his wife Melissa of Peabody, and Jeannine (Berube) O’Connor and her husband Kevin of Peabody, their grandchildren, Brendan, Hunter, Abigail, Colin, Jillyan, Gavin, Karley, Gracie, and Ella, a brother, Richard Berube and his wife Claudette of Salem, Normand was predeceased by his sister, Doris Harrington.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ste Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave, Salem, MA on Thursday, February 10, 2022 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Masks are required indoors.
