Rickard P. Donovan, 79

Rickard P. "Rick" Donovan, 79, of Wakefield, passed away Monday morning January 17, 2022 at the Nevins Family of Services Rehabilitation from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was the husband of Irene (Raymond) Donovan of Wakefield.
Born in Lynn, MA, Rickard was the son of the late Thomas C. And Dorothy (Mitchell) Donovan. Rick had a long career as a mechanical design engineer. He was a graduate of Lynnfield High School 1960, and Wentworth Technology in 1963. Later in life he advanced his education earning a Bachelor of Science at Salem State in 1991, he received his MBA at Salem State in 1995, and earned a CAGS (certificate of advanced graduate study) in 2001.
Rick enjoyed skiing and black and white photography. He also loved to sail and was a member of the Quannapowitt Boat Club in Wakefield as well as the Winchester Boat Club in Winchester. Rick was an avid racer at the Sunday and Wednesday evening sailing races with his wife on calmer days and with his son Scott when it was very windy. He loved the company of his former dog Lucy and current dog Raleigh and enjoyed walking with them around the lake.
Rick is survived by his wife Irene (Raymond) Donovan of Wakefield, a brother Peter Donovan and his wife Carole of Florida, and a brother-in-law Robert Raymond and his wife Maureen of Florida. He was predeceased by his son Scott Rickard Donovan.
The family is thankful to the wonderful staff at Element Care for their kindness and skilled physical and occupational therapy given to Rick. Rick's primary therapist Phil was specifically compassionate and supportive. The family would also like to thank Nevins Family Services for their thoughtful care in Rick's final days.
