Judith Anne Elizabeth Longval
July 27, 1950 – April 15, 2026
Judi Longval, 75, a beloved member of the L’Arche Boston North community in Haverhill, MA, and a woman of deep faith and infectious joy, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving friends. Born in Salem, MA to her late parents Stephen & Lucienne (Boulay) Longval, Judi was described by her mother as a child the "angels sang for" on the day she was born.
Judi worked at Morgan Memorial in Beverly, Christmas Tree Shops in Saugus and Salem, NH, and the ARC in Haverhill until her retirement. A longtime resident of the L’Arche Nazorean House in Bradford, she was a pillar of her community where she enjoyed local restaurants and walks around her neighborhood where she developed many friendships. She loved talking with people and cared deeply for those in her life. Her bright personality left a lasting impression.
Judi was a woman of profound spirituality and a faithful parishioner of Sacred Hearts Church. Her commitment to her spiritual life was an inspiration to all who knew her. An adventurous soul, Judi was also a true world traveler, having explored Ireland, Scotland, Holland, France, Iceland and Niagara Falls. Her travels often intersected with her faith, including a memorable pilgrimage to Taizé and Paray-le-Monial. Music was the heartbeat of Judi’s life. A talented musician with a love of music and dance and special love of Keith Lockhart, Judi was an Irish step dancer and played the piano, violin and bagpipes.
She is survived by her cousin, Roger Boulay; her lifelong friend, Mary Lou Furey; her longtime friends and guardians, Margot Summerhill and Olivia Chalifoux; and her extensive L’Arche family.
Visiting hours will be held at Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford on Monday, April 27 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life will continue after Mass. A graveside service will also be held Tuesday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mary's Cemetery in Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in Judi’s name to L’Arche Boston North, P.O.
