July 13, 1945 – January 7, 2026

Salem – Kathleen “Kathy” Dearborn Michaud, 80, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday morning, January 7, 2026.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Kathy was the daughter of the late Dr. Earl H. Dearborn and Margaret (Kuchta) Dearborn. She received most of her early education in the Baltimore area and later attended Boston University.

Kathy dedicated many years of her professional life to Michaud Bus Lines, Inc. of Salem, Massachusetts, where she worked proudly in the Tour and Dispatch departments. She also worked at The Exhibit Co. in Salem, MA, and later at Standard of Lynn/Ferguson in Lynn, MA, where she served in many capacities throughout her career there.

Above all else, Kathy cherished her family. She adored her two granddaughters and took great pride in their accomplishments. She loved watching Sophie perform in her many school and YMCA musicals and enthusiastically attended Amanda’s drag-racing events at New England Dragway. Kathy also enjoyed boating and treasured her home on the water at the Salem Willows. She loved her dogs and would donate to the Northeast Shelter whenever she could. She was an avid reader and also found joy in challenging herself with crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

Kathy is survived by her two children, James “Jim” Michaud of Brentwood, New Hampshire, and Michelle Michaud of Salem, Massachusetts; her beloved granddaughters, Amanda Michaud of Brentwood, NH, and Sophie Michaud; her siblings, Barbara Weldon and her husband William of Florida, Earl “Buddy” Dearborn and his wife Kay of Louisiana, and Patricia Blacker and her husband Joe of North Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former husband, James “Spike” Michaud of Salem, MA.

In addition, Kathy shared a very close bond with her “second family,” Gilbert “Gill” and Hayes Schreiner of Omaha, Nebraska. She is survived by their daughters, Debbi Dimmick of Wharton, Texas, and Kiki, Mark, and Kenzi Jacob of Fort Worth, Texas. Their third daughter, Holli, unfortunately passed away three years ago.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette Street, Salem, MA, on Tuesday, January 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s name to the MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA.
