John L. McPartland, Jr., 55

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, John, who was called home after a brief illness that he fought valiantly.

John, or "Johnny" as he was fondly called by his friends was born on November 5th, 1968 in Lynn, Massachusetts to his mother Elizabeth "Betty" McPartland and his father Jack McPartland. John passed peacefully with his brothers by his side on August 5th.

Throughout his life, John was an avid New England sports fan. He was a standout athlete at Beverly High School who excelled in both hockey and lacrosse. John won coveted awards in both sports. His brothers fondly recall the year when he lead the high school hockey team in goals, assists, and not surprisingly to anyone who knew John, penalty minutes.

John loved going up to the families camp in Naples, Maine each summer where he enjoyed hiking, waterskiing, and being with his family especially if that meant causing mischief with his younger brothers David and Michael.

After high school John held a handful of jobs but found his passion in carpentry. He was a skilled carpenter who could build just about anything! A hard worker his entire life, John also found time for adventure and fun. He enjoyed hiking the Appalachian trail, seeing live music, and spending time with the many friends he had come to know throughout his life. John was especially fond of Jimmy Buffet and U2 and attended many music festivals. His brothers remember the many weekends John would wake them up far too early gently serenading them to Margaritaville with the volume turned up to full blast.

In the end John was a good man with a kind heart who was always willing to help a friend in need. His charm, humor, and searing wit made him easy to love. We will miss his bright smile and infectious laugh but take solace in knowing that his is now resting in the loving arms of his parents.

John is survived by his daughter Noelle Orlando of Beverly MA., his brother Michael of Beverly MA., and his brother David of Pembroke MA. He also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Sail on Sailor, you will be missed.
