Donna L. Bruner, 72
February 28, 1951 - February 9, 2024
Georgetown- Donna L. Bruner, 72, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family at her home on Friday evening, February 9, 2024. Donna married Thomas Bruner, her true love, on October 10, 1969. For 54 years they never left each other’s side and set a standard of what a marriage should be. Up until the end Donna maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, strength and her love of family and friends.
Born in Lynn, MA, Donna was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Quinn) Steadman. Donna, a graduate of Lynn English high school owned and operated her dance studio (Dance Class) for many years and created a “family environment” that allowed children and adults of all ages a safe place to feel welcomed and loved. A place where everyone was greeted with kindness and a smile. She enjoyed camping, vacationing, making jewelry, dancing, and going out with friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren and knew the importance of a good laugh and “showing up” better than anyone.
Donna, aka Nana, delighted in her grandchildren as much, if not more, than she delighted in raising her children and would light up whenever they were around. It was a well-known fact that Nana’s hugs had healing powers.
Though Donna’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life, love for family, sense of humor, and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the many obstacles in her path.
Along with her husband Thomas Bruner of Georgetown, MA, Donna is survived by her children, Brendon Bruner and his wife Katy of Georgetown, MA, Alison Anderton and her husband Brian of Georgetown, MA, and Colleen Schroeder of Porter, ME, and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Abigale, Jacob, Nathan, Joshua, Eric, Jr., Hannah, Kelly, Alexa, and Paul, her brother, Dick Williams and his wife Emily of California, her in-laws Russell Steeves and his wife Susan of Georgetown, MA, and many nieces and nephews that she treasured dearly.
Along with her parents, Donna was predeceased by her sister, Judith Cameron.
Her departure has left us all with a deep wound and is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her, but we are comforted knowing she is in a better place and at peace.
