Richard P. Malionek, 83
August 9, 1939 – January 28, 2023
Peabody- Richard Paul Malionek, 83, of Peabody, passed away in the company of his loving family at his home Saturday evening, January 28, 2023. He was the husband of Lorraine (Lemieux) Malionek.
Born in Salem, MA, Richard attended Salem schools before joining the Navy to serve his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Returning home, Richard worked for many years as a home health aide. It was a job dear to his heart and very rewarding.
Richard loved to tend to his beautiful flower beds. Always "digging in the dirt" his family called it. His amazing creativity helped to bring alive the Malionek Christmas Party "skits" every year. A tradition he loved with all his heart.
Along with his loving wife of 58 years, Lorraine (Lemieux) Malionek of Peabody, Richard is survived by his children, Lisa Fraser and her husband Keith of Salem, Chris Malionek and his wife Chrisanthi of Dover, NH, and Cathy Sexton and her husband Dave of Wakefield, MA; his grandchildren, James and Christopher Fraser and Mazzy Sexton; his siblings, Joseph, Louis, and Henry Malionek and Mary McHugh, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Andrew, Vincent, John, Stanley, Frank, Chester, and Adolph Malionek, Teresa Jaworski, and Clara Flowers.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home 191 Lafayette St Salem, MA on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. and are also invited to meet directly at church at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St. Peabody on Monday for his 11 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
