Paul C. O’Shea, 72, died July 22, 2022 in Burlington, MA. Paul was born and raised in Salem by the late Thomas and Marguerite (Manning) O’Shea.
A graduate of Salem State College and UMass, Paul had a long career in community and behavioral health, with a focus on administration of mental health programs. Paul spent decades in the leadership team of North Shore Mental Health, later Health and Education Services, which brought new services, including with respect to mental illness, early childhood education, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and victims of sexual/domestic violence, to the communities of Northeastern Massachusetts across over 80 programs and 25 sites. At the end of his career, he used that knowledge and experience to consult for a variety of community mental health and other human services organizations across the United States.
An avid golfer, Paul was a member for many years at Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester. He also had a deep connection with the ocean and the natural beauty of Massachusetts. He was an voracious reader, joyous eater, and passionate lover of music.
Paul will be terribly missed by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne (Lyons) O’Shea of Salem, and his children, Aisling, of Bethesda, Maryland, Connor, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Kevin, of Somerville, as well as his brothers, Thomas, of Salem, and William, of West Palm Beach, Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Paul's memorial gathering on Sunday, August 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the House of Seven Gables, 115 Derby St. Salem, MA. Parking is limited and additional parking is available in the Blaney Street Salem Ferry parking lot.
