Virginia N. Michaud

Salem- Virginia Nora (Hurley) Michaud, 94, of Salem passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2022 in her sleep at Pilgrim Rehabilitation in Peabody. She was the wife of the late Charles “Vic” Michaud.
Born in Revere, MA, Virginia was the daughter of the late James M. and Nora J. (Hughes) Hurley. Virginia was a graduate of Revere High School. As a younger woman, she worked as a secretary for the military during World War II. Later, Virginia worked for the Registry of Motor Vehicles as a clerk in Beverly. Virginia was beloved by her large family. She loved having everyone together especially around the holidays. She loved to be involved in the family's sing alongs with her children and grandchildren. In her younger years she treasured travel and new adventures with her beloved husband “ Vic". They traveled to many countries in Europe and all over the United States as far as Alaska. She spent 25 winters in the Palm Beach area of Florida with her husband where she developed meaningful life long friendships with many people. She touched everybody’s life with her infectious sense of humor and made it a point to make all those she encountered feel so important and special. She loved food, especially great sweets, great chocolate, and great boneless spare ribs. Seemingly always happy, Virginia loved dancing and was a ferocious reader of everything she could get in her hands, and she gave out the best advice.
Virginia is survived by her loving children, Maureen Friel and David of Tyngsboro, Charles V. Michaud Jr. of Salem, James Michaud of Salem, Kevin Michaud and his wife Jill of Danvers, and Tom Michaud of Salem; her eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, Zachary, Adam, Robert, Joseph, Nicolle, and Lia; and three great-grandchildren, May, Lydia, and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband Charles “Vic” Michaud, Virgina was predeceased by her siblings, James, Jean, Mariam and Eileen.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet at Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd. Salem, Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m. For her funeral Mass followed by her burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem, and to visiting hours Tuesday, May 10, from 4-8 p.m. in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St Salem.
