Ramon "Ray" Edward Rodriguez, 86, of Salem, MA (formerly of Medford, MA) passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 5, 1935 to Ramon & Filomina (Cincotti) Rodriguez of Boston's North End. He grew up in the North End and later in life worked for General Dynamics as a pipefitter and then as a construction worker for over forty years. One of his most notable jobs involved working on ships at the Quincy Shipyard. He was the loving husband of Donna Maria (Baldassari) Rodriguez, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage and two children, Marisa and Ramon Jr. He was the son-in-law of Dominic and Mary (Gallo) Baldassari of Boston.
Ramon was an avid Boston sports fan who especially loved watching Red Sox baseball, along with his favorite cowboy and war movies. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, the beach and word search puzzles throughout his lifetime. He loved conversing with others wherever he went and making people laugh, even telling jokes from his hospital bed. A devoted father and papa, he most loved spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren whom he adored.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Donna Rodriguez of Salem, MA; his daughter, Marisa (Rodriguez) Curtin and her husband Brian of Salem, MA; his son, Ramon Rodriguez Jr. of Lynn, MA; his six grandchildren: Jackson, Angelina, Zakariyya, Tasnim, Asiya and Abdul-Kabir; his sister and brother-in-law Claire and Joseph Fiorino of Medford, MA; his niece, Lois Bosary of Burlington, MA; his nephew, William Rodriguez of North Miami Beach, FL; his nephew, Joseph Fiorino and his wife Debbie of Parkland, FL; and his nephew Peter Fiorino and his wife Tricia of Malden, MA. He is also survived by his great-nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Salem, MA 01970. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
