Salem- Roberta A. “Bobbie” (Desjardins) LaPointe, 87, of Salem, passed away at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers. She was the wife of Deacon Norman P. LaPointe of Salem.
Born in Everett, MA, Bobbie was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Desjardins. She was a graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy in Salem. She worked for years as a telephone operator in Salem. Bobbie loved to travel the country with her beloved husband Norman in their RV. She would refer to it as “Roughing it smoothly.” She liked to play cards, and she loved sewing and knitting, needlepoint and Swedish weaving and loved to make Christmas ornaments for all her grandchildren and friends. Bobbie was a wonderful cook and loved the company of her family. At her family meals she would often say to her husband Norman “We started all of this.” During her lifetime, Bobbie was a parishioner of Ste. Anne, St. Joseph, and St. James Churches in Salem where she served as an extraordinary minister for the Church.
Along with her husband, Deacon Norman P. LaPointe of Salem, Bobbie is survived by her children, Paul LaPointe and his wife Jamie of Florida, David LaPointe and his wife Joyce of New Hampshire, Terri Marino of Danvers, Pattie Garzone and her husband Joseph of Groveland; six grandchildren, Christopher LaPointe, Michelle LaPointe, Eric Marino, Cassandra Garzone, Joshua Garzone, and Tyler LaPointe; four great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law who she referred to as her as “sis”Claire Montminy and her husband Roland, and four nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St Salem, MA on Monday, November 14 from 4-7p.m. and to meet for her Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church, 160 Federal St. Salem on Tuesday, November 15 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to the Kaplan House c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St. B-102 Danvers, MA 01923.
