Dorothy H. Plante
Dorothy H. Plante, of Salem, passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 7, 2021. She was the loving wife of Ronald G. Plante of Salem with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Laura (LeClaire) Arsenault. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Lawrence. She worked at Andrew Wilson Company in Lawrence for a number of years. Dot first met Ron at a dance. They married and settled in Salem, and they continued to love to dance together whenever they could.
Dorothy was a proud homemaker, wife, and mother and was fervently loyal and devoted to her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. She was a good cook even though she thought she wasn’t and hated doing it.
Dot was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Patriots, the Red Sox (although they drove her crazy sometimes), Duke basketball, and Notre Dame football. She also loved old movies and could tell you the name of each and every actor. Westerns were her favorite.
Dot had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh and smile. She had funny, unique sayings which her family referred to as “Dot-isms”. She was loved by everyone she met. She will be sorely missed.
Dot is survived by her husband, Ronald G. Plante of Salem; her daughter, Laurie (Plante) Graumann and her husband Donald M. Graumann of Wenham; two granddaughters, Abigail and Emily Graumann; a brother-in-law Richard L. Plante and his wife Kathleen of Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Holly.
Dorothy's memorial service and burial will be private, as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bishop Fenwick High School, Peabody, MA in Dot’s memory.
