Robert P. “Rod” Roderick, Jr., 51
April 5, 1970 - November 18, 2021
Salem- Robert P. “Rod” Roderick Jr., 51, of Milford, CT, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Born in Salem, Ma, Rod was the son of Patricia (Talbot) Roderick of Danvers and Bobby P. Roderick, Sr. and his wife Moe of Florida. A long time resident of Salem and graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, Rod received his degree from NSCC. Rod worked for many years as a Salem firefighter and most recently for Gault Family Companies as a distribution coordinator and driver.
Rod was an avid sports fan of all Boston teams, and enjoyed playing softball himself. He also coached little league and high school basketball. If you couldn’t find him on the field, oftentimes you could find him at the gym. Being a big kid himself, it is not surprising that he found fulfillment in working with kids.
Surviving him, along with his parents, are his son, Declan of Milford, CT; Juliette of Milford, CT, to whom Rod was a bonus dad; a sister, Deby (Roderick) Wantman; two beloved nieces, Madison and Sydney Wantman of Danvers, MA; Declan and Juliette’s mother and Rod’s partner, Emily Nixon; and many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial in Rod’s honor to celebrate his life at AOH Hall, 104 Boston St., Salem, MA, on Saturday, November 27 from 12:00-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made for Rod and Emily’s children to Deby Wantman towards their education and future. Deby’s address is 320 Newbury St. Unit 902, Danvers, MA, 01923.
