John F. Belanger, 82

Marblehead, MA - John Francis Belanger, 82, of Marblehead, passed away in the company of his wife Linda at his home January 1, 2021 following a lengthy illness. They were the loves of each others' lives and were happily married for 24 years.
Born in Marblehead, MA John was the son of the late Edward and Sarah (McCoole) Belanger. John worked for over 43 years mainly with the Town of Marblehead and the Water and Sewer Department. After his retirement, John enjoyed a new position making deliveries for Village Pharmacy in Marblehead.
John was a longtime Freemason and very active in the Philanthropic Lodge in Marblehead most recently taking on the role of House Manager. He was a member of the Salem Lodge as well as the Grand Lodge in Boston and also belonged to one in York, Maine. In the Marblehead Lodge, John initiated the Thanksgiving meal which feeds hundreds of the area's elderly for Thanksgiving for six years now. John could fix anything and loved to take things apart to see how they worked. The Marblehead Council on Aging also benefited from John's talents as he took on the role of their Maintenance Man for a time.
John will be missed by many friends, co-workers and family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Linda (Amirault) Belanger of Marblehead, are John's children, Linda Lavoie Belanger and her husband Scott of Peabody, and his son, John Belanger, Jr and his partner Lisa of Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his late wife, Mary Belanger.
Following John's wishes, services are private and under the direction of Berube & Sons Funeral Home of Salem.
