Kenneth C. Collins, 87
November 1, 1932 – September 9, 2020
Mr. Kenneth Carlisle Collins of Essex, MA entered into eternal rest peacefully in Beverly, MA on September 9, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanhan Clarina (Gagne) Collins with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Ken was born in Beverly, MA on November 1, 1932 and he was the middle of three sons to the late Byron Edward Collins and Sallie Wallis (Trefry) Collins. He grew up at the family home on 23 Dolloff Avenue, Beverly, MA until he was drawn to the ocean where he served in the U.S. Coast Guard from October 21, 1952 until his honorable discharge on April 20, 1956. He enjoyed writing poetry, listening to vinyl records from the 1950’s and was passionate about animals. He participated in the family owned and operated Collins Fence Company, and later worked as a Security Guard.
Kenneth was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Richard E. Collins and Byron Collins, Jr. and is survived by his daughter Clarina S. Marie (Collins) Rose, son-in-law Christopher Andrew Rose and grandson Nathaniel Colin Rose who reside in Chelmsford, MA.
Burial with military honors will be held Monday, September 14 at St. Mary Cemetery, North St. Salem at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to meet inside the main gate of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kenneth’s name to Cape Ann Animal Aid, Christopher Cutler Rich Shelter, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930 or at capeannanimalaid.org/donate.
