Salem- Jacqueline G. (Deschamps) Michaud, 98, of Salem, passed away Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020 at her home. She was the wife of the late Dr. Gerard N. Michaud.
Born in Salem, MA, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late Philippe and Elizabeth (Lantagne) Deschamps. She attended L'Academie Ste.Chretienne, St. Joseph's School, and the Salem Commercial School. Before and just after marriage, she worked in secretarial at George W. Pickering Coal Co., and General Electric, Lynn in the top-secret jet-engine department. She was wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A very wonderful chef, a pianist, a skier and mountain hiker. Enjoyed doing handwork of many types. And she loved to see her grandkids and great-grandkids. She had a great big smile, and she enjoyed Life.
A story she liked to tell: One day as teens, she and a girlfriend swam from Forest River Park, Salem to Marblehead. As they approached Marblehead, they felt a pushing from under the water, and were very alarmed. "Don't worry" said the SeaScouts attentively rowing nearby, "it's only the dolphins trying to help you to shore!"
Surviving Jacqueline are her children, Gerard P. Michaud and his wife Marguerite of Marblehead, Peter C Michaud of Salem, Emily E. Robinson of Marblehead, and Elise J. Gleason of Marblehead; her grandchildren, Gerard Michaud, Christine Woods, Peter Michaud, Joel Gleason, Andrea Gleason, Randall Gleason, and Kurt Robinson; her great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Jacqueline was predeceased by her husband Dr. Gerard N. Michaud. She was the first-born of five, and the last to pass away.
Funeral services are private. Jacqueline will be laid to rest with her husband in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead at a later date. To send a condolence to the family please comment below.
