Sylvester C. "Tink" Tinkham, Jr.

Beverly- Sylvester C. "Tink" Tinkham, Jr., 90, of Beverly, passed away last Monday evening at his home in the company of his loving family. He was the husband of Louise A. (Massarella) Tinkham.
Born in Danvers, Tink was the son of the late Sylvester C. and Anna (Chinnery) Tinkham, Sr. After schooling at Danvers High School, Tink joined the U.S. Navy and served our country honorably for four years some of which served aboard the amphibious force flagship USS Strong.
Returning from his Korean War service, Tink began a long and proud career as a Patrolman wearing Badge 36 with the Beverly Police Department from 1959 until his retirement in 1989. Tink had a long but active retirement. He worked for Maestranzi Bros. in Beverly making many deliveries and friends. He also worked at John Fallon's Auto Service in Hamilton. Tink, his family, and friends spent many years at the Four Seasons Camp Ground on Long Lake in Naples, ME. He was a member of the Spear Post 331 American Legion in Beverly as well as the Italian Community Center.
Tink was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always there for others when called upon. He was a good man with a kind soul and a heart of gold. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Tink, in addition to his wife Louise A. (Massarella) Tinkham of Beverly, are his children, Judy Jennings and her husband Steven of Peabody, and Michael and his wife Debra of Beverly; his grandchildren, Maryanne Melchiorri and her husband David, Kaitlin, and Daniel Jennings; and a great-granddaughter Jocelyn.
Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Berube & Sons Funeral Home of Salem. A committal service with military honors will be held at a later date. To send a condolence to the family please comment below.
