Gertrude T. Labrecque, 87

Salem- Gertrude Theresa Labrecque, 87, of Salem, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 18, 2018 at her home in Salem after a short illness.
Born in Salem, on March 15, 1931, Gert was the daughter of the late Philip and Dorilda (Bosse) Labrecque. Gertrude graduated from St. Joseph School and also from Holy Ghost School of Nursing in Cambridge, MA in 1959. Gert went to work at the former Newhall Nursing Home in Salem and became the administrator of the home until her retirement and the closing of the home.
Gert loved her family and nieces and nephews and she enjoyed life especially going to Florida at Siesta Key. Surviving her are her sisters, Irene Coady and her husband Jack of Maine, Rita Darisse of Salem, MA, and Cecile Keller and her husband Bill of Florida; her brother Gerard "Jerry" Labrecque of Beverly, MA; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Gertrude was the sister of the late Norman Labrecque and Rachel Labrecque.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 1-4pm. Her funeral will be held Monday at 9am with a funeral Mass at Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave. Salem at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
