Salem- Helen E. Putnam, 91, of Salem, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was the loving wife of Otis F. Putnam, Jr. for 70 years. She was the daughter of the late Perley and Dorothy (Foley) Roderick.
Helen was a loving mother, wife, and friend. She devoted her life to others before her own needs; often making a home for her many family members. She was an avid reader and loved a good joke. Helen was a lifelong resident of Salem.
Surviving her are a daughter, Kathleen Putnam; six sons, Otis Putnam, III and his wife Robin of Georgia, John Putnam and his wife Colleen of California, Timothy Putnam and his wife Michelle of Maine, Patrick Putnam and his wife Calee of Georgetown, MA, Christopher Putnam of Danvers, MA, Gregory Putnam of Florida; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Burris of Kansas; her close friend Jeanne Hughes who has been an Angel of God for Helen and her family; and her dear friend Carol Michaud.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem MA Monday, July 23 at 11am. A period of visitation will be held prior from 10-11am. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North St. Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
