Rita M. (Pelletier) Labrecque, 93, of Salem, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 29, 2016. She was the wife of the late Lucien J. Labrecque with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Quebec, Canada, Rita was a graduate of the St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1942. A former member of St. Joseph Parish, Salem and Les Dames de la Sainte Famille, Rita was a parishioner of St. James Parish. She was a very prayerful woman and was devoted to her family and faith. She was proud to be a notary. The Cerebral Palsy Association was dear to her heart.
She is survived by three daughters, Marguerite Labrecque, Patricia Wenzel and her husband Mark, and Celeste Labrecque, all of Salem; and three sons, Richard Labrecque and his wife Janet of Lynn, Andre Labrecque and his wife Cheryl of Holden, and Daniel Labrecque and his wife Heidi of Gloucester. Rita is also survived by eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by a son, Clement Labrecque, seven brothers, Leo, Louis, Jean Paul, Edmund, Alphonse, Adrien, and Armand, and three sisters, Irene Morin, Laura Turcotte, and Theresa Bedard. Rita was the last surviving member of the Jules and Homeryle (St Amand) Pelletier family.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem followed by a funeral Mass at St. James Church, Federal St. Salem at 10am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7pm.
