Sharon F. Berube, 83

July 15, 1941 – July 12, 2025

Sharon Berube, formerly of Newburyport, MA, passed away in Tampa, FL, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, just three days shy of her 84th birthday. She was the wife of the late Bertram Berube with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

She is survived by her son Brian Berube and his wife, Elyse, of Haverhill, MA; daughter Kathryn Ortega and her husband, Eduardo, of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Maloney; great grandson Gunnar Anderson of Haverhill, MA; brother Stephen Harrington and his husband Jeff Chelgren, of Lynn, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by sister Meredith Roubo and brother David Harrington.

Sharon Faye Harrington was born to the late Fay and Dora Harrington on July 15, 1941 in Dexter, ME. She attended Gorham High School and Gorham State Teacher’s College. It was her move to Boston, MA, though, to work for Morse Shoe Co., that changed her life when she met her soon-to-be husband, Bertram.

Eventually the couple settled in Newburyport, MA, where Bertram found his home as the high school guidance counselor, while Sharon relished being stay-at-home mom to their two blessings, Brian and Kathryn. In 1971 Sharon began her second career at the IRS, working her way into management, a position she held until her retirement in 2003.

Once free of work obligations, the couple relocated to Hudson, FL, to escape the New England winters and enjoy leisure time pursuing their many interests. Sharon was an avid knitter and sewer as well as an accomplished singer, having performed with the Newburyport Choral Society for more than 20 years, and joining several choruses in Florida. Her favorite activity in recent years was the sing-a-long on Saturday nights.

A devout Catholic, Sharon relied on her abiding faith to keep her centered. She was unafraid to show her playful, witty, and wacky side. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held at the Berube Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St, Salem, MA, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. and her funeral Mass Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 42 Green St Newburyport, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport, MA.
