Judith Ann (Ring) Howland, 81

Judith Ann (Ring) Howland, 81, of Salem, passed away Saturday evening, May 10, 2025, after a brief illness in Salem Hospital. She was the wife of Gene Howland of Salem.

Born in Salem, MA, Judy was the daughter of the late Kenneth Ring, Sr. and Marguerite (Hendricks) Ring. Judy was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1961. She worked for many years as an administrator at Salem Hospital. Judy was a long time, active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Salem, and in her later years was a parishioner of St John the Baptist Church in Peabody.

She found immense joy in spending time with her family, especially during the unforgettable Boston to Bermuda cruise in 2019. Her weekends at the family Camp in Northwood, NH were filled with laughter and warmth, countless cookouts, cribbage and horseshoe matches, and boating on the lake. Above all, her heart was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren, cherishing every moment she could spend with them.

Surviving her along with her husband Gene Howland of Salem, MA, are her children, James Howland and his wife Elizabeth of Beverly, MA, Kenneth Howland and his wife Susan of Salem, MA, Paul Howland and his wife Danielle of Holliston, MA, and Tracy Palen and her husband David of Salem, MA; six grandchildren, Benjamin and Marguerite, Kayla, and Lindsey, Thomas, and Emily Howland; her sisters-in-law Janet and Carol Ring, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Judy is predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Ring, Jr., and Robert Ring.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St, Salem, MA, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30, followed by a funeral service at 10:30. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Judy Howland’s name to the St Vincent de Paul Society c/o St John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut Street, Peabody, MA 01960.
