Stanley P. Poirier, 88, of Salem, MA, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Born in Gloucester, MA, Stanley was the son of the late Lenus and Marie Poirier. Stan was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1953 and a proud U.S. Marine. After returning from the Korean War, he attended Boston University, earning a degree in mechanical engineering and worked at Raytheon Missiles and Defense in Andover, MA for 36 years.
Stan and his late wife, Priscilla “Pat” Poirier, raised their family in Salem, MA. Stan was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Stan will be remembered by many as a loyal and reliable friend, always ready to share a good story, a laugh, and a healthy debate about local politics and policies.
Stan is survived by his brother, Al Hemeon of Gloucester and his children, Judith Michaud of Beverly, MA, Suzanne and Yamil Kouri, Jr. of Sarasota, FL, and Christopher and Jaime Poirier of Barrington, RI, his daughter-in-law Suzanne Winslow of Northwood, NH, and pre-deceased by his son Stephen Poirier. He was the beloved grandfather of Brian Michaud, Alissa (Michaud) and her husband Steve Pearson, Stephanie (Poirier) and her husband Ethan Ward, Samantha (Poirier) and her husband Connor Andrews, Susana and Yamil Kouri, III, and Garrett and Charlotte Poirier. Stan loved his great grandchildren Hudson George-Michaud, Ronin and Harper Ward, Logan Andrews, and Jasper Pearson. Stan will be terribly missed by many cousins and extended family members including his sister-in-law, Lynda (Michaud) Cutrell of Marblehead and brother-in-law, Doug and Elaine Michaud of Lawrence, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Salem, MA on Thursday, June 22 from 5-8 p.m. and to meet directly at Immaculate Conception Church – Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, for his funeral Mass at 9 AM on Friday, June 23. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Stanley P. Poirier to Home Base.
