William H. James, 73

Marblehead- William Henry "Bill" James, 73, of Marblehead passed away in Lahey Hospital, Burlington on Dec. 24, 2020. He was the husband of the late Sandra E. (Hunnell) James.
Born in Salem, Bill was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Margaret (Rodgers) James. A lifelong resident of Marblehead and a graduate of Marblehead High School Class of 1966, he joined the Navy after school to serve his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Bill worked for many years for the Town of Marblehead and was the Superintendent of Waterside Cemetery for over fifteen years. Along with his work, Bill loved being a long-time football coach for Marblehead High School. He loved teaching the young men the game and everything about the role he had in the program. Bill was a long-time member of the Gerry 5 in Marblehead, and he also loved to visit his aunts, uncles and cousins in Nova Scotia when possible. Bill will be missed by his many friends.
Surviving him are his two daughters, Christine James of Marblehead, and Stacy James of Marblehead and her partner Derrick Sutton of Boston; a granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Shanice James-Jones; his brothers, Frank, Bob, and Peter James all of Marblehead, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A service with military honors will be held in Waterside Cemetery at a later date. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Berube & Sons Funeral Home of Salem. To send a condolence to the family please comment below.
