Gertrude L. Cornacchio, 93

Salem- Gertrude L. (Cuneo) Cornacchio, 93, of Salem, passed away Thursday morning, January 18, 2018 at the Kaplan Hospice House, Danvers.
Born in Salem, MA, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Gertrude K. (Nolan) Cuneo. Gertrude worked for many years at retail clothing establishments including the former Clarke & Friends and Pattee Anne Children's shops in Salem. She later worked as Salem State College. She was an avid reader and in her retirement participated in a program to read to young students at the Horace Mann elementary school. She enjoyed summer walks along the Marginal Way in her favorite vacation spot, Ogunquit, Maine. She was a long- time communicant at Immaculate Conception Parish in Salem. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Mario J. Cornacchio, Sr.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth A. Foley of Wethersfield, CT, and sons Mario J. Cornacchio, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Westford, MA; Anthony J. Cornacchio and his wife Beth of Haverhill, MA; and Kenneth P. Cornacchio and his wife Renee of Gillette, Wyoming.
She is also survived by several grandchildren: Erin and Justin Foley, Drew and Mark Cornacchio, Stephen and Anthony Cornacchio, and Angela Cornacchio. She was predeceased by her grandson Kevin Cornacchio. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Joan Gallagher, Linda McGrail and their colleagues at North Shore Elders for their exceptional support of Gertrude over many years and would especially like to thank Jeanne Flynn, her long-time home health aide and loyal friend for her tireless care for Gertrude.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA, on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be said Friday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Shore Elder Services, 300 Rosewood Dr. #200, Danvers, MA 01923.
