James M. Jamont, 61

Newton, NH- James Michael Jamont, 61, of Newton, NH, passed away Monday morning, February 20, 2017 at Beth-Israel Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Priscilla (Mackey) Jamont who passed away September, 2016.
Born in Lynn, MA, James was the son of the late Benjamin and Marion (Smith) Jamont. Jim worked for years as an auto body technician, most recently for Winslow Auto Body in Marblehead. He was a talented craftsman and designer. He lined and painted hockey helmets in Marblehead and was in the process of restoring his beautiful '68 Dodge Charger along with motorcycle bodies during his free time. Jim had a passion for older muscle cars and going to car shows. He loved his family and dogs and spending time in Port Orange, Florida. Jim also loved to cook for people and going to the family home on Sunrise Lake in New Hampshire.
James is survived by his loving daughter, Casey Marie Jamont of Newton, NH; his brother-in-law, Thomas C. Mackey of Danvers; sister-in-law, Mary McCarthy and her husband Mark of Danvers; his aunt, Claire Pappas of Peabody; nephews, Thomas McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Edward McCarthy and his fiancee Santana Withrow, Mark McCarthy, Jr., and Charles McCarthy; a niece, Kristen McCarthy; and a lifelong dear friend Charlie DeGrandpre.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral from the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA on Monday at 9:30am followed by a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave Salem at 10:30am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-8pm.
